Jonathan has a keen talent for songwriting, and there are some really lovely songs here. There’s a clear lineage back to classic 70s singer-songwriters.. including Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Peter Hammill and CSN&Y, I can also hear folks like Nick Drake and David Ackles in there.
It sounds really good – intimate and well-recorded, with instrumentation and arrangements beautifully managed… positively more-ish.
Jonathan’s been making music quietly over many years leading a half-reclusive life, having also spent considerable time travelling and busking, always looking to connect and understand more. His own personal brand of “contemporary rural music from Shropshire” conveys his deep love of, and sincere response to, nature, cultivated partly through his long journeys wandering around Europe playing its streets and cafés.
…the measured poise and gentle air of contemplation in the word-pictures and the sensitivity of the musical arrangements takes its heart from time, silence and the mad, mundane and quietly beautiful vision of those who share the road”.
