PERFORMANCE AT HKDI – I HAVE SO LOVED PLAYING IN ASIA! The warm enthusiasm of Hong Kong listeners is lovely : ) … I’m singing about a neolithic circle, half lost in the North Atlantic – playing a huge Chinese drum that was in the venue – swopped for my usual bodhran. I’ve no idea how much of my outré obtuseness they understand in a literal sense – but the way music crosses language and so called cultural barriers is astonishing and inspiring. Today I feel a kiss for the whole world x

THEI THEATRE IN THE IMMENSE FILIGREE Hong Kong Design Institute is towers of steel and glass, supported by massive white trellis works, looking like titanic lego. In the courtyard at it’s heart the shade is deep and a soft wind stirs the air. Outside the day is oven hot and the surprising stillness amongst so much activity profoundly heightens the tranquility. Thanks to my friend Carman for facilitating the visuals : )
