Sky is cerulean blue, filled with the appealing screech (who would have thought those words would appear together?) of swifts and martens. Must be summer… and time for a Shropshire festival.

Shropshire is divided into the Southern hills and Northern plain, that melds slowly and inevitably into Cheshire. I live at the foot of Wenlock Edge which rises like a storm front or great wave out of the flatter lands – and is followed by the chop and turbulent flood of the blue remembered hills. Last night we were deep in the meres and fields and copses of the north – being a border dweller, they tolerated me. Folk on the Park festival was a lovely night amongst the flat landers…
